报告摘要:The interplay of uncertainty and nonlinearity in biological dynamical systems gives rise to complex phenomena, including critical transitions between qualitatively distinct dynamical regimes. Such transitions, also known as tipping phenomena, are prevalent in neural and other biological systems.
In this talk, we review recent advances in detecting critical transitions between metastable states by analyzing system trajectories, probability distributions, and Onsager-Machlup actions. Building on these approaches, we introduce a suite of topological, probabilistic, and analytical indicators for identifying impending transitions. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of these indicators through examples drawn from neural dynamics and other biophysical systems. This is joint work with Ting GAO (Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China), Lingyu FENG (Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Nanjing, China), and Xiaopeng CHEN (Shantou University, Shantou, China).
